EXPLORING BROCADE + INLAY
This 3-session class is suitable for both rigid heddle and shaft loom weavers. Weavers will explore the supplementary weft techniques of brocade and inlay. Both techniques are often seen in ethnic textiles and are a relatively simple way to add interest and complexity to your plain weave fabrics.
Skill level: Open to weavers with a wide range of experience, but you must have the ability to warp your loom prior to class.
Supplies to bring to class: Students should come with a loom warped for a sampler 8-15” wide, threaded for plain weave in a monochromatic and somewhat neutral color scheme. Background weft should be a similar color to the warp and a smooth, untextured yarn. Supplementary wefts can be a wide variety of materials.
If you need a rigid heddle or shaft loom, email firstname.lastname@example.org to inquire about availability of rentals.
